Title: Viejas Casino Gives Away Nearly Half Million Dollars in Poker Tournament

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - January 29, 2009 - Viejas Casino gave away close to $500,000 at the Viejas Poker Classic, with one skilled player walking away with $100,000 cash.
The Viejas Poker Classic, held January 17 and 18, was a no limit hold ‘em tournament that boasted a $100,000 guaranteed first place prize with just a $1,050 buy-in. The tournament drew nearly 500 players of all levels, including top seeded World Class competitors. The top winner, a local San Diegan, Ricardo L., walked away with the winning $100,000 hand. Second place winner, Sirous B. of Long Beach received almost $60,000 and third place winner Richard L. of Lakeside stacked up over $37,000. Overall, the ten final table players walked away with over $350,000, with an additional $100,000 plus awarded to the remaining finalists.
“Being the first casino in San Diego to offer a $100,000 first place guaranteed poker tournament was a great achievement,” said Joe Olivieri, Viejas Casino Director of Gaming Operations. “At Viejas, we love to offer our players big payouts, and this tournament certainly did just that. We had 487 players competing for the $100,000 top prize.
