San Diego is filled with exciting live concerts, but when searching for the best live entertainment in town, Viejas is always at the top of my list.
For the past year, I promised to make it out to numerous concerts in Southern California. Whether it be a single show or festival, I wanted to be out again with people listening to great music.
I started my live music adventure right at the stroke of midnight on 2022. I visited the Viejas New Year’s Eve Bash and it was amazing! They had a DJ spinning sets as well as a live band playing classic rock and 80s tunes. The midnight ball drop was gorgeous and I honestly had one of the best New Year’s nights of my life.
After New Year, I had my Casino Host invite me to their Big Game weekend party. We got to watch the Big Football Game on huge TV screens and had free food and prizes. I was used to having a super time watching the bowl at home with some friends, but nothing screamed excitement more than yelling at the top of my lungs with my new Viejas friends.
The Viejas events didn’t stop there, as my Host invited my Wife and me to Valentine’s Day Dinner. I’ll admit, I’m not the most romantic guy out there, thankfully, Viejas was there to save the day. We enjoyed a delicious plated dinner, romantic live music, and personalized champagne flutes. I also got to stay at the most luxurious hotel in town, Willows Hotel & Spa, in a beautiful Suite, so let’s just say I’m not considered the most romantic husband in San Diego. Thanks, Viejas!
I think I was done with events but then I got the call that I had two free tickets to see Jefferson Starship. Now I don’t want to date myself but I am a huge classic rock guy, and when I heard that one of my favorite bands was going to be live at Viejas in the Park, I had to go. Jefferson Starship played all their hits, including “We Built this City,” which made me scream like a little kid and lose my voice. But hey, for that show, it was well worth it.
A couple of weeks later, I visited Viejas again for another classic band in Blue Oyster Cult and then finished the summer with CountryFest, featuring Jimmie Allen, Joe Nichols, and Jackson Dean. My wife loves country music and almost lost it when I showed her that we were going to see one of her favorite bands. The country music scene at Viejas was epic! KSON sponsored it and I truly had the best time with a cold beer in my hand.
My next show at Viejas was hip-hop royalty En Vogue. This show reminded me of my younger years, hearing their hits like “Never Gonna Get it” on my cassette player on my 1986 maroon Chrysler LeBaron while driving around town
The party never stops at Viejas! I got invites to a ton more vents like Labor Day Bash, Whiskey Dinner, and Halloween Bash. A couple more concerts were on the schedule, like Loverboy and Billy Currington.
These big events and concerts make Viejas the best casino in San Diego. But Viejas also has so much more than just huge bands and parties. Every Friday, at the Lobby Bar, Viejas invites local bands to play their hits and covers. The drinks are always being poured and the party never seems to quit.
Luckily, at Viejas, there’s a ton of parking. It’s easy to drive the 8-freeway and find a spot next to the casino. If I wanted to get my steps in, I could always park at the Outlets, just across the street. There are many delicious food choices to choose from and I don’t regret one trip to Viejas. We always seemed to leave winners with a belly full of good food, some cash from a slot machine win, and lasting memories from a great concert under the stars at the Park or in the Oak Ballroom.
Now, as I sit here writing this, I received an email from my Casino Host with my NYE 2023 invite. I remember promising myself a more extroverted 2022, which I truly accomplished.
Now, I wonder, what does Viejas have in store for me for 2023?
